A foreign blogger named Aisha shared her experience of completing an MRI at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, drawing attention to its international outpatient services. A Shenzhen Health Commission report describes coordinated appointments, examinations and report collection, alongside the hospital’s language and payment arrangements.

Clinic location and coordinated visits

The International Medical Department is on the sixth floor of the outpatient building. Its 1,630-square-metre space has bilingual wayfinding, 41 consultation rooms including 25 specialist rooms, and a multidisciplinary consultation centre.

The department combines specialist clinics, check-ups, preventive care and health management. It serves patients paying themselves or using commercial health or overseas medical insurance, coordinating registration, consultations, tests, payment, medication collection and treatment.

Language support during actual care

A bilingual volunteer team established in 2013 assists foreign patients throughout the visit. Its members include healthcare workers, postgraduate students, translators and other volunteers with foreign-language skills. At publication, the language volunteer pool had 86 members, including 15 with less commonly used languages; the report did not list individual languages.

In June 2025, a patient from Africa attended with joint pain. A volunteer nurse accompanied the visit, helped with detailed communication between the doctor and patient, explained unfamiliar examination steps and supported completion of blood tests and imaging.

Follow-up and multidisciplinary management

The department provides internet-supported multidisciplinary management for nearly ten disease-specific areas, including endocrine and metabolic conditions, weight management, lung nodules, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions, digestive disorders and mental health.

Services after health examinations include creating health records, comparing reports over time, follow-up monitoring, multidisciplinary consultations, psychological support, exercise management and pharmacist advice. A senior health-management physician leads the team.

Booking channels and payment services

A Greater Bay Area weekend clinic offers access to ten specialties. Hong Kong and Macao residents can book through the hospital’s WeChat public account or in person at registration.

The hospital began accepting Hong Kong Elderly Health Care Vouchers in August 2025. It also reports commercial-insurance direct billing partnerships with 26 domestic and overseas high-end medical insurers, serving foreign patients and patients from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
