A Hong Kong and Macao Insurance Medical Service Centre opened at Nansha International Talent Port on October 20, 2026. It provides an in-person entry point to Bank of China’s international medical finance platform and to supporting healthcare services delivered by Nansha’s public holding group.
Help before, during and after a hospital visit
The centre’s published service scope begins with appointment enquiries, travel arrangements and preparation of medical documents. During treatment, it includes accompaniment to appointments, transport, care assistance and coordination of insurance claims. The later recovery and elder-care stage includes short stays, health management, living assistance and long-term care arrangements.
The announcement confirms that appointment accompaniment was already available when the centre opened. It describes a single service window intended to connect these stages, rather than requiring patients to organise each contact separately.
Direct settlement has a defined scope
The cross-border insurance settlement channel was operating at the time of publication. Hong Kong and Macao patients with commercial medical insurance can use direct settlement at participating hospitals, within the amount and services pre-authorised by their insurer. The arrangement therefore depends on both the hospital’s participation and the patient’s insurance approval.
This builds on a service established in 2025 between the Nansha hospital of Guangzhou First People’s Hospital and Bank of China Group Insurance. That earlier arrangement connected the institutions directly; the new system brings the service onto a shared platform.
A local window for a wider platform
The centre opened five days after the launch of the Bank of China platform on October 15. At that point, 15 Guangdong international medical pilot hospitals had joined, including Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou First People’s Hospital.
Ping An Health, Taikang Life and CITIC-Prudential were among the insurers that had signed agreements. Cooperation with several Hong Kong and Macao insurers remained at the intention stage. Behind the service window, the platform connects cross-border payments and encrypted transfer of claims documents, with mechanisms for personal information transfer and foreign-exchange checks.
