Nutrition
A modern nutrition diagnosis and treatment system has been established. Every day, nutritional meal services are provided for approximately 2000 patients and employees throughout the hospital, and nutrition diagnosis and treatment services such as the nutrition outpatient clinic, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition are offered.
100% nutritional meals are provided free of charge to all inpatients, with three meals a day delivered to patients' bedsides, effectively solving the problems of “difficulty for patients in getting meals and difficulty for family members in delivering meals,” reducing the financial burden on patients and their families, ensuring good medical order in the hospital, and laying a solid foundation for implementing inpatient management without accompanying caregivers.
According to the treatment needs of clinical patients, 24 types of special therapeutic diets are provided, including low-salt, low-fat diets, diabetic diets, and low-purine diets. Through the nutrition management information system, “three-way communication” is achieved among nutritionists, medical staff, patients, and meal service personnel. In particular, refined dietary management is implemented for patients with diabetes. Weighing meals are used to assist clinical treatment, stabilize patients’ blood glucose, and shorten their treatment and rehabilitation time.
Enteral nutrition treatment has achieved closed-loop operation through the information system, providing nutritional support for the treatment and rehabilitation of special and critically ill patients. Paperless operation throughout the entire process is an innovation pioneered by hospital nutrition departments in Tianjin. The results have been promoted at the National Nutrition Conference, and in July 2016, the department became one of the first officially designated “Qualified Enteral Nutrition Preparation Rooms of Medical Institutions in Tianjin.”
In 2021, nutritional risk screening for inpatients was fully implemented, with the screening rate reaching over 96%.
