The Nutrition Department is a national “Clinical Nutrition Demonstration Unit”; the hosting institution for the “Pregnancy Nutrition Classroom” of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association; the “Scientific Research and Training Center for Non-Drug Intervention Weight Management” of the China Health Promotion Fund; one of the first batch of pilot units for the “Guidelines for the Construction and Management of Nutrition Diet Therapy Departments” of the Nutrition Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine; and a first-batch practical training base for dietitians of the Beijing Dietitians Association. Currently, the department is headed by Professor Zhang Jiali. The department has 3 attending physicians, 1 resident physician, 5 technicians, and 1 assistant research fellow. The Department’s Diagnostic and Treatment Specialties:
1. Specialty nutrition clinic: Medical nutrition therapy is provided for more than 90 diseases, including diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity, kidney diseases, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung transplantation, tumors, phenylketonuria, osteoporosis, malnutrition, and others. 2. Pregnancy nutrition: Nutritional guidance is provided for all stages, including preconception, pregnancy, and lactation, and various problems arising during pregnancy, such as diabetes, excessive weight gain or loss, and nutrient deficiencies, are diagnosed and treated. 3. Perioperative nutrition: Perioperative nutrition counseling is provided for patients with gastrointestinal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and other diseases who require surgical treatment. 6. Enteral and parenteral nutrition: Guidance is provided on nutrition-support routes, selection of preparations, methods of administration, dosages, and related matters. 8. Hospital diets: Dietary plans are developed for inpatients, including basic diets, therapeutic diets, tube-feeding diets, and metabolic experimental diets. 9. The department organizes and participates in large-scale health education and consultation activities, free health clinics, and other activities.
Existing Disease-Specific Outpatient Clinics: At present, the disease-specific outpatient clinics are combined with the general outpatient clinic/international medical outpatient clinic.
