Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center
The center focuses on patients with coronary artery disease and those at high risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, providing continuous services ranging from risk-factor identification and assessment of coronary lesions to interventional treatment, postoperative rehabilitation, and long-term management. For patients who have already experienced chest pain, coronary artery stenosis, or stent treatment, the center can formulate recommendations for the next stage of diagnosis and treatment based on examination results and overall risk. In coronary intervention, the center can assess the use of imported coronary stents, bioabsorbable stents, and other interventional devices according to lesion characteristics, and use intravascular imaging such as IVUS and OCT to assist in assessing lesions and optimizing treatment. After interventional treatment, patients can continue to receive medication management, risk-factor control, cardiac rehabilitation support such as enhanced external counterpulsation, and long-term cardiovascular and cerebrovascular follow-up. Our clinicians Mei Weiyi Cardiology specialist, Deputy Director of Cardiology, Associate Chief Physician Huang Zheng Cardiology specialist, Chief Physician, Professor Zhao Yahong Cardiovascular physician He Yale Cardiology consultant Center features Chest pain and coronary artery disease risk assessment Patients with chest pain, chest tightness, shortness of breath after activity, or coronary artery stenosis indicated by an outside hospital often need to determine whether their symptoms are related to coronary artery disease and whether further examinations or interventional treatment are needed. The center can combine examinations such as electrocardiography, ambulatory electrocardiography, echocardiography, coronary CTA, coronary angiography, blood lipids, and myocardial injury biomarkers to assess the risk of coronary artery disease, the degree of vascular stenosis, and the direction of subsequent management. Selection of imported stents and bioabsorbable (biodegradable) stents For patients assessed as requiring coronary intervention, the center can perform coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, and stent implantation. The hospital has the capability to use imported coronary stents and bioabsorbable (biodegradable) stents. Physicians will select devices according to lesion location, vessel diameter, plaque characteristics, bleeding risk, subsequent medication requirements, and the patient’s long-term needs. Bioabsorbable stents are not suitable for all coronary lesions; their use must comply with indications, device requirements, and the hospital’s compliance procedures. IVUS / OCT intravascular imaging guidance Coronary angiography mainly shows the outline of the vascular lumen; some complex lesions also require observation of the plaque, vessel wall, and stent status. Depending on the condition, the center can use intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or optical coherence tomography (OCT) to assist in assessing vessel diameter, lesion length, plaque characteristics, stent expansion, and wall apposition, providing more detailed imaging support for device selection and interventional procedures. Interventional techniques for complex coronary lesions For calcified lesions, bifurcation lesions, long-segment lesions, in-stent restenosis, and other conditions, the interventional team can assess drug-coated balloons, coronary plaque rotational atherectomy, and other interventional techniques. The treatment plan must be developed based on lesion characteristics, previous stent status, cardiac function, renal function, and perioperative risk. Assessment of arrhythmias and structural cardiovascular problems For palpitations, excessively fast or slow heartbeat, abnormal ambulatory electrocardiography, presyncope, and problems related to adult congenital heart disease, the center can conduct assessments of arrhythmias and structural cardiovascular problems and, according to the patient’s condition, coordinate further examinations, interventional diagnosis and treatment, or long-term follow-up recommendations. Long-term cardiovascular and cerebrovascular management Patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure, dyslipidemia, and those after interventional procedures require ongoing management of blood pressure, blood lipids, blood glucose, weight, smoking, sleep, and medication adherence. The center can combine coronary artery disease management with assessment of stroke risk factors and formulate follow-up examination and medication recommendations based on previous cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events, carotid and cerebral vascular examinations, atrial fibrillation risk, and metabolic indicators, reducing the tendency during follow-up to focus only on individual indicators while overlooking overall risk. Enhanced external counterpulsation and cardiac rehabilitation For patients with coronary artery disease, angina, those after interventional procedures, or patients with reduced exercise tolerance who are assessed by a physician as suitable, the center can incorporate enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) into cardiac rehabilitation support. EECP improves diastolic coronary perfusion and venous return through sequential inflation and deflation of lower-limb air cuffs coordinated with the cardiac cycle. Before treatment, cardiac function, blood pressure, cardiac rhythm, vascular status, and contraindications must be assessed, and treatment should be implemented together with an exercise prescription, nutrition, medication, and risk-factor management. Services Screening and assessment services Assessment of chest pain, chest tightness, palpitations, and shortness of breath Management of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular risk factors Screening and long-term follow-up for coronary artery disease Assessment of arrhythmias and heart failure Comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk factors Interpretation of coronary CTA and coronary angiography results Interventional and management services Coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention Assessment of indications for imported coronary stents and bioabsorbable (biodegradable) stents Medication management and follow-up examinations after stent implantation Assessment of IVUS / OCT, drug-coated balloons, coronary rotational atherectomy, and other techniques Assessment of enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) and cardiac rehabilitation Long-term follow-up for chronic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
