Founded in 1957, the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University is located in central Taiyuan, the provincial capital. It currently has two campuses, Jiefang Road and Qianjin, occupying approximately 86,900 square metres of land with a total floor area of about 228,600 square metres. This Grade A tertiary general hospital combines medical care, teaching, research, prevention, rehabilitation and emergency care. It serves Shanxi as a centre for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and critical illnesses, clinical medical research, emergency medical rescue, clinical nursing services, medical and nursing education and training, and health management and promotion.
