Gynecology Ward 1
2022.11
The First Gynecology Ward of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine is a National Key Specialty (12th Five-Year Plan development unit), a national key discipline, the leading unit of the Clinical Pathway Collaboration Group for Premature Ovarian Failure of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a provincial key discipline, and a leading-talent echelon in Heilongjiang Province. It is a comprehensive gynecology department with distinctive TCM characteristics. It has successively received such honorary titles as “National Model in Professional Ethics Development,” “Women’s Civilized Post,” “Advanced Collective for Women’s Contributions,” “March 8 Red Flag Collective,” and “National Outstanding TCM Nursing Department.” The department has a complete complement of professional and technical personnel. Under the leadership of Professor Cong Huifang, it adheres to the principle of “studying the classics and practicing clinically,” relies on strong technical capabilities, takes serving patients as its purpose, and is founded on equal emphasis on ethics and skills. It is committed to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of clinically advantageous gynecological diseases and common diseases. It has distinctive expertise particularly in common difficult-to-treat diseases. For endometriosis, it proposes that “hidden cold injures the kidney, leading to stasis and damage to the collaterals” as the key mechanism, and combines acupuncture and medication to relieve pain, assist conception, reduce masses, and prevent recurrence, with significant efficacy; it uses the “harmony” method to treat various disorders before and after menopause; it independently developed the “surrounding acupuncture method” to tonify the kidney and nourish the liver in the treatment of vulvar dystrophy; it uses subcutaneous embedding acupuncture to unblock the channels, remove stasis and transform phlegm to treat the root, and regulate the constitution, reduce fat, and use health management to eliminate the root cause—the “three-pronged” therapy—to treat polycystic ovary syndrome; it innovatively proposed “deficiency of healthy qi with lingering pathogenic factors” as the basis for treating pelvic inflammatory disease and its sequelae, eliminating longstanding disease and preventing recurrence; at the same time, in response to the toxic side effects caused by tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Professor Cong uses the methods of “supporting the healthy qi and eliminating toxins, resolving masses and dissipating nodules,” applying acupuncture and medication together to significantly reduce toxicity and enhance efficacy, improve patients’ quality of life, and fully highlight the characteristics and advantages of TCM. The department also uses clinical practice as a vehicle to drive the coordinated development of clinical care, education, and research. In response to difficult clinical treatment problems, it diligently seeks ancient teachings, reflects on the classics, and draws broadly on the strengths of others!
