III. Clinical Work The department adheres to a patient-centered approach, emphasizes education in medical ethics and professional conduct, and serves patients wholeheartedly. To alleviate the difficulty of obtaining medical care and registering, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has in recent years introduced special-needs clinics, evening clinics, weekend clinics, and other services to make medical care more convenient for the public. It actively participates in emergency response and medical assistance in western China, supports projects providing full-course services for subsequent childbirth in disaster areas, and has repeatedly dispatched experts to earthquake-stricken areas to provide free consultations and health education and to train relevant technical personnel. Each year, it dispatches a number of experts to provide paired assistance to medical institutions in remote and ethnic-minority areas. The two campuses of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology currently have more than 700 authorized beds. They have established a full-course care system for gynecologic tumors, a management system for difficult and critical maternal and child cases, an end-to-end integrated reproductive service platform, a transport and rescue system for acutely and critically ill patients, and a fetal-origin disease management platform. They are equipped with dozens of sets of globally advanced endoscopic minimally invasive equipment, including integrated operating rooms, hybrid operating rooms, surgical robots, and fetoscopes. In 2019, the department became China’s first comprehensive medical center integrating gynecologic malignancy screening, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and other services。。 Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy: The department performs multi-port and single-port laparoscopic surgery, da Vinci robotic surgery, hysteroscopy, and other minimally invasive procedures for all types of benign and malignant gynecologic diseases. It is one of the medical centers in China with the highest number of single-port laparoscopic operations for gynecologic malignancies。。 The single-port minimally invasive gynecologic surgery team was the first internationally to report “single-port staging surgery for early ovarian cancer with lymph-node dissection at the level of the renal vein,” “single-port laparoscopic radical hysterectomy without a uterine manipulator,” and “single-port laparoscopic extraperitoneal lymph-node dissection for advanced cervical cancer.” For these innovative procedures, it has also developed related medical patent instruments with independent intellectual property rights. Multiple multidisciplinary team (MDT) teams for fertility preservation have been established. In 2019, the gynecologic malignancy team used single-port laparoscopy to perform the first ovarian-tissue cryopreservation procedure in Sichuan Province for a young patient with a malignant tumor. At the same time, it has vigorously developed other micro- and minimally invasive technologies, and possesses advanced hysteroscopic equipment and imaging systems to meet the diagnostic and treatment needs of patients of different ages with various intrauterine diseases. The Haifu focused-ultrasound tumor-treatment system, as a noninvasive treatment method, provides female patients with more options compared with traditional open and endoscopic surgery. Obstetrics: It is a national benchmark institution for the comprehensive prevention and treatment of obstetric hemorrhage and the lead institution of the Sichuan Province and Chengdu obstetric emergency expert groups. It is currently a treatment and referral center for critically ill pregnant and postpartum women in western China. It undertakes perinatal critical-care monitoring, prevention, guidance, and treatment; has standardized local procedures for screening, management, and referral of high-risk pregnancies, as well as emergency plans, emergency procedures, and practical technical standards for perinatal emergencies and critical illness. It has a high level of capability in diagnosing and treating critical illnesses and manages a large number of referred cases of pregnancy complicated by critical illness and rare diseases. It has also preliminarily initiated the use of fetoscopy for intrauterine diagnosis and treatment of fetuses. Reproductive Endocrinology/Family Planning: It is a national menopause-healthcare construction unit. It performs endoscopic diagnosis and treatment, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, for gynecologic endocrine diseases and infertility; various fertility-restoration microsurgeries; and the diagnosis, referral, management, and rescue of contraceptive-operation complications and difficult, critical gynecologic endocrine diseases in western China. It also conducts healthcare and research for women during menopause and old age, various family-planning procedures and related operations, and the application and promotion of various new contraceptive methods. Reproductive Medicine: It was the first medical institution in Sichuan Province to carry out PGT. It performs in vitro fertilization–embryo transfer and intracytoplasmic sperm injection, husband-sperm artificial insemination, donor-sperm artificial insemination, interventional puncture treatment of pelvic cysts, lymphocyte immunotherapy for recurrent miscarriage, routine semen analysis, infertility-antibody testing, B-ultrasound ovulation monitoring, and various other assisted reproductive technologies. In 2019, it became the first institution in Sichuan Province to obtain PGT operating accreditation.
