Urologia

The Department of Urology was one of the first urology research centers established in China. It was also among the earliest urology doctoral degree-granting sites approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and is a “Taishan Scholars” position in Shandong Province, a Grade A key discipline in medicine and health in Shandong Province, a key clinical specialty in Shandong Province, and a doctoral and master’s degree program in urology at Shandong University and Shandong First Medical University. It is also a urology specialist physician training base and urology minimally invasive training center formerly under the Ministry of Health and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, as well as a grassroots demonstration unit for continuing education of the Urology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association.

The department currently has 209 open beds and 6 wards. It houses the Shandong Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Urinary System Organs and Functional Reconstruction, the Key Laboratory of Urinary System Diseases of Shandong Provincial Institutions of Higher Learning, a cystoscopy room, a lithotripsy center, and a urodynamic examination center, among others. The department currently has 72 physicians, including 15 chief physicians and 30 deputy chief physicians; it treats more than 10,000 patients annually and performs over 6,000 surgeries each year. It has developed into the largest urology medical, research, and training base in Shandong Province. It holds a leading position nationally in the clinical and research fields of robotic urologic surgery, urinary system tumors, adrenal diseases, prostate diseases, and andrological diseases.
