Pathology

The Department of Pathology is a key discipline in Qingdao’s medical and health sector and specifically undertakes the relevant duties associated with the hospital’s “National Standardized Residency Training Base” and “Qingdao Municipal Cadaver Autopsy and Identification Center.” The department currently has 29 staff members, including 3 chief physicians, 12 associate chief physicians, and 6 physicians with intermediate-level professional titles; 11 hold doctoral degrees and 6 hold master’s degrees. In terms of hardware facilities, the department is equipped with various large-scale pathology instruments, including a fully automated tissue processor, fully automated stainer, rapid paraffin processor, cryostat, fully automated immunohistochemistry instrument, clean bench, and microtome.

The department is capable of performing routine paraffin sections, frozen sections, liquid-based cytology, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, and other services. It provides various pathological diagnostic services, including rapid paraffin pathological diagnosis, pathological diagnosis of thyroid fine-needle aspiration specimens, dermatopathological diagnosis, renal biopsy pathological diagnosis, and bone marrow aspiration. Among these, dermatopathological diagnosis and other services have reached an advanced level of pathological diagnostic technology in China. The department is currently making every effort to advance the development of subspecialties such as gastrointestinal pathology, genitourinary pathology, and thoracic and pulmonary pathology, striving to build an integrated pathology diagnostic center with broad influence within the province and a leading position in the industry in Qingdao.
