Introduction to the Health Management Center of Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH)

Established in December 2010, the Health Management Center of Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH) is committed to safeguarding and promoting public health. Relying on the comprehensive strength of Peking University Third Hospital, it provides high-quality, personalized health examination and health management services to the whole community. The Center currently has branches at the Main Hospital Campus, Capital Airport Campus, Northern Campus, and Daxing Airport, respectively.

Through multidisciplinary collaboration with the Hospital’s leading clinical disciplines, the Center conducts organ-system functional assessments and evaluations, including exercise capacity assessment, women’s health status evaluation, pre-pregnancy health assessment, tumor risk assessment, comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluation, and osteoporosis risk assessment. Since 2015, PUTH has established an Advisory Committee and an Expert Committee for the Center to oversee teaching and ensure the quality of health examinations. At present, 45 advisors and 39 experts participate in this work. Through meetings of the Expert Committee and Advisory Committee, examination items are regularly reviewed and demonstrated to ensure their scientific validity.

To further improve the quality of health management services, before examinations, professional physicians guide examinees in completing a pre-examination assessment questionnaire. Through systematic assessment and personalized consultation, we help examinees clarify their health needs and formulate more targeted examination plans. After examinations, we provide one-on-one, face-to-face report interpretation and health guidance, actively intervene in health risks, and tailor personalized health improvement plans. For examinees with major positive physical findings, we promptly conduct telephone follow-up, continuously track their condition, urge them to pursue further diagnosis and treatment, and assist in arranging post-examination outpatient services. By establishing health records and providing health examinations, health risk assessments, individual health consultations, continuing individual health management services, and specialized health and disease management services, we implement health management for the entire population. The Health Management Center at the main campus of Peking University Third Hospital is located in the Health Medical Center Building and provides health management services in a beautiful environment, with comprehensive facilities and a professional medical team.

Since 2016, relying on the professional support of PUTH’s traditionally strong disciplines, including sports medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, and rehabilitation medicine, the Center has systematically developed the “Physical Activity Capacity Assessment and Intervention Program” and integrated it into the routine health examination process. Through scientifically quantified assessment of physical activity capacity, the program precisely determines, on the basis of comprehensive health analysis, each individual’s safe and effective exercise physiological thresholds; identifies deficiencies and imbalances in physical activity function; and screens for potential acute and chronic injury risks in daily life and during exercise.

Based on the assessment results, we provide examinees with personalized and precise exercise recommendations. Through scientifically guided exercise interventions, we effectively improve physical function, address functional limitations, and reduce exercise-related risks. This program not only helps examinees clarify their own safe exercise boundaries, but also prevents sports-related injuries and illnesses at their source, thereby strengthening overall health management. In addition, we provide ongoing follow-up and health management services to ensure that interventions are effectively implemented and that health benefits continue to improve.
