Hand, Foot and Vascular Surgery Department
The Department of Hand, Foot and Vascular Surgery is a specialized department integrating medical care, teaching, and scientific research. It is a subspecialty of orthopedics designated as a National Clinical Key Specialty under the “14th Five-Year Plan” and a Clinical Key Specialty of Guangdong Province. It is a training base for Guangdong Province’s “Restricted Diagnosis and Treatment Technologies for Peripheral Vascular Interventions” and the “Diabetic Foot and Chronic Wound Diagnosis and Treatment Center” of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital. The department is committed to providing patients with personalized, minimally invasive, and high-standard medical services.
The department’s advantageous technologies anddistinctive diagnosis and treatment programs include:
Vascular Surgery:
1. Arterial diseases: atherosclerotic obliterans, thromboangiitis obliterans, aneurysms, diabetic foot, vasculogenic erectile dysfunction, and arterial embolism
2. Venous diseases: varicose veins of the lower extremities, deep vein thrombosis, venous ulcers, pelvic congestion syndrome, and varicocele (interventional treatment)
3. Vascular trauma and malformations: vascular injury repair; congenital (acquired) arteriovenous fistulas; hemangiomas; vascular malformations; creation and maintenance of arteriovenous fistulas (for renal insufficiency); and interventional and surgical treatment of bleeding and hemostasis at various sites.
Hand and Foot Surgery
1. Peripheral nerve entrapment diseases: carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, etc.
2. Hand and foot deformities: polydactyly, syndactyly, brachydactyly, constriction band syndrome, hallux valgus, flatfoot, equinovarus foot, scar contracture, mallet finger, etc.
3. Tumors: resection and reconstruction of bone and soft-tissue tumors; resection of benign and malignant tumors of the hands, feet, extremities, and trunk; paronychia; tenosynovitis; etc.
4. Functional reconstruction of the hands and feet: functional reconstruction after nerve injury and joint replacement
5. Hand and foot trauma: replantation of severed fingers, toes, and limbs; repair of nerve, vascular, and tendon injuries; repair of skin and soft-tissue defects; treatment of complex trauma and functional reconstruction
Featured Diagnosis and Treatment Technologies
1. Minimally invasive interventional technologies: endovascular angioplasty (balloon dilation, stent implantation, plaque rotational atherectomy, and laser ablation), minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins, and interventional treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome and vasculogenic erectile dysfunction.
2. Comprehensive treatment of diabetic foot: vascular recanalization combined with wound repair technology. Multidisciplinary collaboration for the comprehensive management of diabetic foot.
3. 3D printing technology: applied to the correction of complex hand and foot deformities and functional reconstruction.
4. Microsurgical technologies: treatment of severe limb trauma and limb salvage reconstruction, free flap transplantation, perineurial anastomosis and minimally invasive neurolysis, correction and functional reconstruction of various complex hand and foot deformities, microsurgical treatment of malignant limb tumors, and repair of residual wounds.
The department provides minimally invasive treatment for peripheral vascular diseases (atherosclerotic occlusion of the lower-extremity and carotid arteries, thromboangiitis obliterans, varicose veins of the lower extremities, hemangiomas and vascular malformations, varicocele, pelvic congestion syndrome, and vasculogenic erectile dysfunction). The annual volume of interventional procedures for peripheral vascular diseases ranks among the highest in Guangdong Province. The department was the first in Shenzhen to carry out multiple approaches to minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins, completing nearly 800 varicose vein surgeries annually. It was also the first in South China to carry out one-stop treatment for diabetic foot, with its annual volume of diabetic foot patient treatment ranking among the highest in Guangdong Province.
