Nephrology Ward III

Ward 3 of the Department of Nephrology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University was established in 2014. It consists of more than 20 experienced medical professionals specializing in nephrology and is a positive, highly qualified, and harmonious medical team. Of the 10 physicians, 3 are chief physicians and 1 is an associate chief physician; all are nephrology experts with extensive clinical experience. Under the leadership of Director Du Xuanyi, professor, scholar returned from abroad, doctoral supervisor, and a renowned nephrologist in China, the department adheres to the path of specialization, strives for progress, and dares to innovate. It has successively carried out a variety of internationally advanced interventional treatments for kidney diseases, various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for kidney diseases, and pathological examinations, and has established a kidney treatment center equipped with a color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instrument and an independent operating room.

The department routinely performs internationally advanced renal biopsy, renal cyst puncture, peritoneal dialysis catheterization, and central venous catheterization. In close cooperation with the dialysis unit, it also establishes and repairs blood purification access (arteriovenous fistula creation, arteriovenous fistula balloon angioplasty, and implantation of semi-permanent catheters for blood purification), and has implemented a series of landmark technologies, including integrated hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment for patients with uremia. These achievements have enabled the department to gradually enter an entirely new “era of kidney diagnosis and treatment” in the field of nephrology diagnosis and treatment.

In the academic field, the Third Department of Nephrology has undertaken 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and 5 provincial scientific research projects, received 1 Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, published more than 20 SCI papers and more than 50 papers in domestic core journals, and published more than 100 research papers and reports at domestic and international conferences. Since 2015, it has hosted the annual meeting of the Nephrology Branch of the Heilongjiang Medical Association for 6 sessions.
