The Department of Pediatrics of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine has strong medical and technical capabilities, and its staff are united, harmonious, and enterprising. The medical team has extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating common, frequently occurring, and difficult diseases in children. The current physician team consists of 9 members, including 2 chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, 2 attending physicians, and 4 resident physicians. Of these, 6 hold doctoral degrees and 3 hold master’s degrees; there is 1 doctoral postgraduate supervisor and 2 master’s postgraduate supervisors; the nursing team consists of 7 members, including 2 nurse supervisors, 3 professional nurses, and 2 nurses. Together, they undertake the tasks of prevention, health care, treatment, scientific research, and education and teaching in TCM pediatrics.

Pediatrics is a department with distinctive TCM features in our hospital, and mainly uses a combined approach of TCM syndrome differentiation, disease differentiation, and constitution differentiation to treat common pediatric diseases and difficult and complicated disorders. Upholding the traditional essence of TCM pediatrics and combining it with the latest pediatric theories from China and abroad, it has summarized a unique set of pediatric medical features. In the process of disease diagnosis and treatment, it gives full play to TCM characteristics, establishes a “TCM brand,” and uses various distinctive TCM diagnostic and treatment methods, such as enemas, acupoint application, and herbal-paste formula conditioning, to treat common and frequently occurring pediatric diseases. Over the years, the hospital’s self-prepared Chinese patent medicines, such as “Kangzhi Syrup, Baibu Zhike Syrup, Huatan Qingfei Powder, Xingpi Yangfei Powder, Fupi Zhixie Powder, Xiaozhang Baohe Powder, Qingre Xiepi Powder, Yunpi Yangwei Pills, Da’an Pills, Shujie Powder,” have had definite therapeutic effects and are deeply welcomed by patients inside and outside the province.

Our hospital’s pediatric outpatient clinic specializes in diagnosing and treating difficult and complicated disorders such as recurrent respiratory tract infections, various chronic coughs, pneumonia with cough and wheezing, asthma, anorexia, constipation, diarrhea, delayed growth and development, myocarditis, Tourette syndrome, hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy, purpura, rickets, enuresis, precocious puberty, allergic diseases, and adolescent syndrome. The pediatric ward specializes in the integrated treatment of children’s colds, cough, pneumonia with cough and wheezing, asthma, diarrhea, eczema, allergic purpura, pediatric cerebral palsy, and other diseases using Chinese and Western medicine. Good therapeutic outcomes have established our department’s position in TCM treatment, winning praise from many patients and recognition from peers; patients come from a wide area, extending throughout and beyond the province.

Pediatric medical and nursing personnel adhere to the departmental motto “Meticulous care, love above all,” emphasize people-centered care and harmonious coexistence, and provide patients visiting for care with the most humane treatment atmosphere and nursing environment, enabling them to complete treatment in a relaxed and pleasant state of mind and leave the hospital recovered.
