It has published 9 monographs, presided over and undertaken 8 provincial, departmental, and bureau-level projects, 1 Natural Science Research Fund project of Heilongjiang Province, and 1 scientific research project of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
II. Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment
The department specializes in the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment of thyroid nodules, thyroiditis, thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer, inflammatory breast diseases, breast abscesses, mammary hyperplasia, breast fibroadenomas, intraductal papillomas, nipple discharge, breast cancer, cholecystitis, gallstones, gallbladder polyps, gallbladder cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, splenomegaly and hypersplenism, appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeding, various hernias, hydrocele, prostatitis, urinary retention due to prostatic hypertrophy and hyperplasia, bladder cancer, varicose veins of the lower extremities, and various chronic ulcers of the body surface, as well as other common and frequently occurring surgical diseases, achieving good clinical results.
III. Medical Features
The Department of Surgery of our hospital has unique advantages in the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases, breast diseases, biliary tract diseases, pressure sores, intestinal obstruction, and other conditions, and has developed distinctive individualized treatment based on integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine:
1. Thyroid diseases: As the chairperson unit of the Thyroid Disease Professional Committee of the Heilongjiang Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the department has introduced internationally advanced microwave ablation equipment and launched thyroid ultra-minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment technology for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules, cysts, adenomas, and other diseases. This technology has the advantages of being minimally invasive, scarless, not affecting thyroid function, bloodless and painless during surgery, and involving oral administration of traditional Chinese medicine after surgery to reduce the recurrence rate and promote rapid recovery. With the continuous development and progress of modern medicine, needle-based minimally invasive thyroid surgery not only resolves the possibility of malignant transformation of thyroid nodules but also preserves thyroid function without scarring on the neck, providing modern green treatment for benign thyroid nodule diseases.
2. Breast diseases: For benign breast diseases such as mammary hyperplasia, mastodynia, nipple discharge, non-suppurative-stage mastitis, and plasma cell mastitis, as well as other breast diseases, we adopt traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and treatment, individualized treatment, and a combination of oral administration and external application, supplemented by in-hospital preparations with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics, achieving significant clinical effects. In response to the increasing incidence of breast cancer, in addition to actively adopting comprehensive treatments such as modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer, breast-conserving minimally invasive resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and hormone therapy, we give full play to the advantages of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of breast cancer and achieve good clinical results.
3. Minimally invasive surgical treatment: With strict control of the indications for minimally invasive surgery, we adopt minimally invasive surgery for surgical diseases: ① laparoscopic cholecystectomy, radical resection of gastric cancer, radical resection of colorectal cancer, pancreaticoduodenectomy, etc.; laparoscopic subtotal thyroidectomy, total thyroidectomy plus cervical lymph node dissection. ② Cystoscopic transurethral plasma electrosurgical resection of the prostate, prostate enucleation, bladder tumor resection, etc.; ③ radiofrequency ablation for the minimally invasive treatment of benign thyroid and breast nodules.
4. Gallstones with cholecystitis and gallbladder polyps with cholecystitis: On the premise of ensuring surgical safety and minimizing secondary injury, we adopt laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, which features small incisions and rapid recovery. After surgery, oral traditional Chinese medicine is administered to promote bile flow and protect the liver, reducing the likelihood of bile duct stone formation and achieving very good clinical results.
5. Intestinal obstruction: For patients with intestinal obstruction who meet the criteria for nonsurgical conservative treatment, our department adopts comprehensive integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine measures, including fasting from food and water, gastrointestinal decompression, anti-inflammatory treatment and fluid replacement, acupuncture, acupoint injection, nasogastric feeding or enema with traditional Chinese medicine, microwave physiotherapy, and traditional Chinese medicine umbilical patches, achieving good clinical results. Surgery is an important measure for treating intestinal obstruction. For patients requiring surgery, the appropriate surgical method can be selected according to the patient’s general condition and the cause, nature, and location of the obstruction, such as adhesiolysis, reduction of intussusception or volvulus, intestinal resection and anastomosis, intestinal bypass anastomosis, and enterostomy or exteriorization of the intestine, receiving favorable reviews from patients and their families.
6. Pressure sores: According to the different stages of pressure sores, we adopt debridement, regular repositioning, and stage-based syndrome differentiation for the external application of Pressure Sore Nos. I, II, and III, combined with comprehensive measures such as microwave physiotherapy and photon therapy devices. We give full play to the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in treating primary diseases and use comprehensive treatments including acupuncture, massage, and traditional Chinese medicine to treat primary diseases such as stroke, hemiplegia, cerebral infarction, and traumatic paraplegia, greatly shortening the healing time of pressure sores without delaying treatment of the primary disease.
