Diamond Bay Campus Anesthesiology Department
Under the leadership of the hospital’s leaders at all levels, the various activities of the Operating Room of the Department of Anesthesiology are developing in a healthy and rapid manner. We are working hard to improve our professional and technical capabilities and to gradually achieve the department’s management goals of standardization, normalization, and professionalization. The department is introduced below:
I. Technical Staff
There are currently 3 anesthesiologists, 2 of whom hold master’s degrees in medicine. The nursing staff consists of 11 people: 8 nurse supervisors and 3 nurses. The head nurse has a postgraduate degree, and all the others have at least a bachelor’s degree.
II. Equipment and Facilities
The operating unit currently has 5 operating rooms. It is equipped with central suction, a central oxygen supply, high-end anesthesia machines, multifunctional ECG monitors, bedside color Doppler ultrasound machines, electronic laryngoscopes, monitors for end-tidal carbon dioxide and anesthetic concentration, invasive monitoring devices, micro-injection pumps, high-frequency electrosurgical units, a laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery system, a mobile C-arm X-ray machine, an arthroscopy system, and other equipment.
III. Specialty Services and Distribution
As new surgical technologies and projects continue to be introduced in our hospital, the volume of surgery has been increasing year by year, while the types and difficulty of surgeries have also continued to increase. The scope of services of the Operating Room of the Department of Anesthesiology covers multiple clinical disciplines. In addition to providing anesthesia and perioperative support for routine general surgery, it can independently provide anesthesia for relatively difficult operations involving patients with severe diabetes, septic shock, and so on; it is also capable of providing anesthesia and nursing support for difficult and complex operations for which experts from the main hospital come to our hospital to provide guidance. At the same time, the Department of Anesthesiology has successfully assisted with the resuscitation of critically ill patients throughout the hospital.
IV. Departmental Features
The department advocates “comfortable medical care” and was among the first to undertake painless gastrointestinal endoscopy and perioperative analgesia. This not only provides patients with good postoperative analgesia but also facilitates early ambulation and helps prevent venous thrombosis of the lower extremities. The specialty’s advantageous technologies include visualization techniques, ultrasound-guided arterial and venous puncture and catheter placement, nerve-block techniques, laryngeal mask techniques, critical-care monitoring and treatment, management of difficult airways, and others. While pursuing high-quality cooperation, the department’s nursing work emphasizes a “people-oriented” nursing-service philosophy, implements high-quality nursing throughout the entire process, strengthens humanistic care during the perioperative period, and conducts preoperative visits and postoperative follow-up. The surgical process has become more rational, and overall work efficiency has increased substantially. Day surgery is actively carried out to reduce hospital stays and make rational use of surgical resources.
V. Teaching and Research
The Operating Room of the Department of Anesthesiology has also continued to make progress in teaching and research. In recent years, the department has successively sent medical and nursing personnel to renowned hospitals in Beijing, Sichuan, and elsewhere for further training. It has patented inventions and has published many academic papers in national- and provincial-level professional academic journals and magazines. In the future, the department will place greater emphasis on the coordinated development of clinical care, teaching, and research, and strive to promote perioperative medicine that is “safe, high-quality, efficient, and comfortable.”
VI. Epidemic Prevention and Control Work
During the pandemic, all department personnel actively mobilized and participated in epidemic prevention and control, successfully completing the tasks assigned to the department by higher authorities.
Ensuring that patients pass through the perioperative period safely, stably, and comfortably through safe and effective anesthesia and skilled surgical support is the sacred duty of the Operating Room of the Department of Anesthesiology of Diamond Bay. We will, as always, always put patients first and safeguard the health of the people.
