III. Department introduction update:
The Department of Tuina was established in October 1984 and is currently the institution where the Chairperson of the Pain Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine is based. The department director is Tang Xuezhang. There are 2 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, and 4 attending physicians. All graduated from renowned Chinese universities of traditional Chinese medicine in Beijing, Shanghai, and other locations, and have been invited abroad many times to provide medical services and give lectures. The department has 1 advanced traction device, 6 magnetic vibration heat devices, and 6 ultrasonic permeation devices.
The department's diagnostic and treatment characteristics: It specializes in treating various diseases with manual techniques, organically combining the roughness of Northern-style techniques with the delicacy of Southern-style techniques, and has gradually formed a complete manual treatment system combining firmness and gentleness. It has unique efficacy for cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of the shoulder, lumbar disc herniation, sacroiliac joint injuries, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other diseases, and is highly praised by patients.
IV. Introduction to the specialized outpatient clinics planned by the department
1、Cervical spondylosis: The Department of Tuina mainly treats cervical spondylosis with massage techniques, combined with various treatment methods such as computer-assisted traction and medicinal applications. The treatment of various types of cervical spondylosis is characterized by rapid results, minimal discomfort, and low cost. It has good efficacy for common symptoms of cervical spondylosis, including cervicogenic headache, dizziness, numbness of the upper limbs, and intractable shoulder and back pain.
2、Lumbar disc herniation: Lumbar disc herniation is a common lumbar disease, frequently seen in people who sit for long periods and in manual workers. It presents with symptoms such as lumbosacral pain and numbness of the lower limbs. The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Massage mainly uses manual techniques for treatment. Over many years of clinical work, it has organically combined the various schools of traditional Chinese medicine manual techniques with a long history in China, flexibly and effectively applying them in clinical treatment, and has gradually formed a complete manual treatment system combining firmness and gentleness and featuring distinctive characteristics. Combined with traction treatment using an electric traction bed, it is highly welcomed by patients with lumbar disc herniation.
3、Pediatric tuina: The specialized pediatric tuina outpatient clinic is established to treat pediatric diarrhea, vomiting, food accumulation, anorexia, constipation, abdominal pain, rectal prolapse, common cold, cough, asthma, fever, enuresis, night crying, muscular torticollis, stiff neck, convulsions, and so on. Because children's zang-fu organs are delicate, their physical form and qi are not yet fully developed, and their skin and muscles are delicate, the pediatric tuina techniques used by our department particularly emphasize being light, quick, and gentle; steady and substantial; applying evenly distributed force that penetrates deeply; and stopping when it reaches the affected area, while avoiding forceful attack. The main techniques used are pressing, rubbing, pinching, kneading, pushing, moving, rolling, shaking, grasping, pounding, and scraping, as well as compound procedures such as “yellow bee entering the cave,” “moving water into earth,” “moving earth into water,” “fishing for the moon from the bottom of the water,” “striking the horse across Tianhe,” “opening Xuanji,” “pressing the string while moving, rolling, and rubbing,” and kneading the navel and tortoise tail while rubbing the seven vertebrae, to address corresponding pediatric clinical problems.
