Pathology
The Department of Pathology is an important bridging discipline in our hospital.
The team includes 1 chief physician, 3 associate chief physicians, several senior attending physicians, and multiple supervising technicians, with extensive clinical experience and technical expertise. In addition, the team has considerable professional expertise in the diagnosis of challenging cases involving the lymphohematopoietic system, bone marrow pathology, breast tumors, thyroid tumors, digestive system tumors, and other areas.
The department’s services include routine pathology, cytopathology, intraoperative frozen sections, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology, among others. It is equipped with advanced instruments and equipment and has robust technical capabilities; its annual volume of routine pathology cases can exceed 50,000.
Department members actively participate in academic research and training activities both domestically and internationally, undertake and participate in a number of national- and provincial-level health-related research projects, and have published more than 100 academic papers.
The department also focuses on the development of digital pathology and a smart pathology department. The entire team continually works to enhance its pathological diagnostic capabilities, and the department has established a first-class pathology team at a Grade III Class A hospital, so as to better support clinical care and benefit patients.
Technical Advantages
Advanced Testing Technologies: The department is equipped with various advanced testing technologies, including immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology testing, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), gene sequencing, etc. These technologies provide important evidence for disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognostic assessment.
Remote Pathology Diagnosis Platform: The establishment of a remote pathology diagnosis platform enables the sharing of high-quality pathology resources, overcomes geographical limitations, and improves diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.
Intelligent and Information-Based Management: Digital pathology and the pathology department information management system optimize workflows through automation and intelligent technologies, improving work efficiency.
Multidisciplinary Integration and Personalized Medicine: The Department of Pathology collaborates across multiple disciplines, including Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Thoracic Surgery, and Hematology, and participates in clinical diagnosis and treatment decision-making through multi-omics pathological diagnosis to meet the needs of precision medicine.
Academic Standing
The Department of Pathology’s medical diagnostic capabilities are at a leading level in the province.
