Since the Department of Anorectal Surgery of Zhejiang Hospital became an independent department in 1994, it has developed into one of the specialties established relatively early in Zhejiang Province with a leading level of professional technology. The department currently has 24 beds and is staffed with 2 chief physicians, 3 senior attending physicians and 5 master's degree holders; the medical and nursing team is experienced.
The department is mainly devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal and anal diseases as well as teaching and research work. Through years of accumulation of clinical experience and discipline development, it has built a professional team of noble medical ethics, exquisite skills and solidarity and cooperation, and has carried out a number of highly effective characteristic treatment projects. The characteristic treatments cover: surgery for complex anal fistula with preservation of the intact sphincter; individualized minimally invasive surgery for hemorrhoidal disease of different grades and types; minimally invasive surgery for rectal and anal prolapse; one-stage excision of pilonidal sinus or cyst with flap preservation and dead-space-free suturing technique, and flap transfer technique for large areas of flap loss; laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer; surgery under safety assessment for elderly patients; radical resection after neoadjuvant therapy for intermediate and advanced colorectal cancer; sphincter-preserving surgery for low rectal cancer; multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of pelvic tumors, etc. These cutting-edge techniques have been carried out routinely, with remarkable efficacy and wide praise from patients. The department continues to optimize the diagnostic and treatment methods for benign and malignant anorectal diseases and has established a good reputation in the region.
In the field of diagnosis and treatment of colorectal tumors, the department relies on advanced equipment such as high-speed spiral CT, multi-directional and multi-parametric MR and PET-CT to achieve precise diagnosis and assessment, and uses high-definition and 3D laparoscopic equipment to ensure the smooth conduct of surgery. For benign anorectal diseases, it adopts minimally invasive and painless techniques and, in combination with photon therapy devices, herbal fumigation and washing with traditional Chinese medicine, and ultrasound-mediated treatment, promotes rapid postoperative recovery, providing patients with high-quality medical services in all respects.
