In 2018, Zhejiang Hospital entered the era of operating across two campuses, Lingyin Campus and Sandun Campus, and, seizing the opportunity for development, the Department of Mental Health opened a mental health ward in October of the same year, with an approved capacity of 23 beds. After subsequently experiencing events such as ward renovations and the COVID-19 pandemic, the department developed steadily; the approved bed capacity increased to 25 beds in May 2022 and then increased again to 30 beds in January 2024. Both campuses opened specialist outpatient clinics, and the range of subspecialties gradually became comprehensive, covering memory, sleep, adolescent, addiction, and psychological counseling and therapy clinics, among others. The department practices a compassionate healthcare philosophy oriented toward sustainable development, upholds the principle “Pursue excellence in ethics and clinical skill, with the patient at the center,” continuously improves its capacity for clinical diagnostic and treatment services, tackles difficulties and wholeheartedly provides high-quality, efficient medical services for patients with complex, difficult-to-treat, and severe mental illnesses, has innovatively established integrated diagnostic and treatment pathways and a model for acute and critical psychiatric conditions, and draws on the technical strengths of a general hospital to provide high-quality multidisciplinary collaborative medical care for all types of patients with acute and critical conditions requiring specialist psychiatric treatment.
