The Department of Stomatology of Yueyang Hospital has made considerable progress, in step with the hospital’s overall development, in diagnostic and treatment technologies, medical equipment, the technical level of its medical and nursing staff, infrastructure, and other areas. It has gradually become a clinical department with comprehensive functions and complete facilities, integrating medical care, teaching, and research. It is one of the important medical institutions for the prevention and treatment of oral diseases in the Hongkou area.

The Department of Stomatology currently has more than 10 medical and nursing staff members, including 3 staff with senior professional titles, 4 with intermediate professional titles, several physicians, 1 supervisor of master’s postgraduate students, and 2 specialist nurses.

Medical equipment: several complete, fully imported comprehensive dental treatment chairs, implant motors, fiber-optic anti-retraction high- and low-speed handpieces, dental cleaning and air-polishing machines, LED light-curing units, ultrasonic root canal treatment devices, digital imaging dental X-ray machines, root canal measuring devices, root canal treatment machines, warm root canal filling machines, digital oral panoramic X-ray machines with curved-surface tomography, dual-source CT, Class III pre-vacuum high-pressure sterilization and disinfection autoclaves, handpiece cleaning and maintenance machines, ultrasonic instrument cleaning machines, model disinfection machines, etc. Infrastructure: 10 treatment rooms, 1 dental radiography room, an independent dental implant operating room, and an independent supporting room for instrument cleaning and disinfection.

At present, the diagnostic and treatment services of the Department of Stomatology include: diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the dental hard tissues and pulp, complex root canal treatment, cosmetic restoration of tooth defects; dental cleaning and air polishing for periodontal disease, periodontal curettage, and periodontal surgery; diagnosis and treatment of oral mucosal diseases; alveolar surgery, minimally invasive extraction of complex teeth and teeth impacted in soft and hard tissues, outpatient surgery, debridement and repair surgery for maxillofacial trauma, dental implant surgery, etc.; restoration of all types of tooth loss and dentition defects or loss: removable denture restoration, precision attachment restoration, fixed restorations such as all-ceramic and precious-metal porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations, implant restorations, etc.; denture fabrication in cooperation with a large denture processing center; orthodontics: early intervention to prevent abnormal development of the jaw bones and malocclusion, orthodontic treatment to correct irregular dentition in adults and adolescents, etc.
