Oncology Department I
Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Shanghai University of TCM
The Department of Oncology I (Internal Medicine) at Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine has been engaged in the prevention and treatment of malignant tumors for more than 50 years. It currently has 83 beds and handles more than 100,000 outpatient visits annually. With the goal of helping patients with tumors “live well and live longer,” the department closely integrates clinical practice and scientific research and promotes the concept of “whole-course management of the physical and psychological well-being of patients with tumors.” Based on clinical stage and patients’ physical constitutions, it provides “tailor-made” treatment plans, combining a range of distinctive traditional Chinese medicine therapies—including traditional decoctions, intravenous administration of Chinese herbal medicines, topical preparations, acupuncture, moxibustion, and fumigation, music therapy, and health-preserving exercises—with Western medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, among others. It conducts multidisciplinary collaboration at the domestic and international levels, continually refines effective treatment plans, and optimizes clinical pathways. In areas including the prevention and treatment of postoperative recurrence and metastasis of tumors and the stabilization of lesions in tumor-bearing patients, its treatment efficacy is at an advanced level in China.
The department currently has 2 doctoral supervisors and 5 master’s supervisors; 90% of its personnel hold doctoral or master’s degrees, and 13 staff members hold senior professional titles.
