Ultrasound Diagnostics

The Department of Ultrasound of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, was founded in 1978. It is a postgraduate master's training base of Capital Medical University, a national training base for resident physicians specializing in ultrasound medicine, a member institution of the National Health Commission’s multicenter clinical research project on thyroid ablation, a member institution of the database-construction group for the superficial lymph node ultrasound database of the National Health Commission’s medical image database, a Beijing ultrasound quality-control sentinel institution, and a pilot institution for endometrial cancer screening and diagnosis in Beijing.

The Department of Ultrasound is equipped with high-end color Doppler ultrasound systems of multiple models and for multiple specialties. The department has a comprehensive range of specialties, covering abdominal, obstetric and gynecological, thyroid, breast, lymph node and superficial organ, musculoskeletal and nerve, craniocerebral, and interventional ultrasound, among others. It provides outpatient, inpatient ward, emergency, bedside and intraoperative, physical examination, and special-needs ultrasound services. It has introduced a number of new technologies, including contrast-enhanced ultrasound, ultrasound elastography, four-dimensional ultrasound, intraoperative ultrasound, intracavitary ultrasound, and interventional ultrasound (various ultrasound-guided needle biopsy procedures, ultrasound-guided thermal ablation and sclerotherapy procedures, etc.). Since 2023, with the completion of Xuanwu Hospital Xiong’an, the department has undertaken the management and technical guidance of the Department of Ultrasound of Xuanwu Hospital Xiong’an.
