The Department of Pediatrics of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, is one of the hospital’s clinical departments and consists of the pediatric outpatient clinic, emergency department, and inpatient wards. The department diagnoses and treats pediatric internal medicine diseases, while pediatric nervous system diseases are its specialty in diagnosis and treatment. Based on the hospital’s key discipline—the neurological sciences—the Department of Pediatrics relies on the strong capabilities of the hospital’s neurology and neurosurgery, neuroelectrophysiology, neuropathology, and other related departments, focusing on the comprehensive treatment of refractory epilepsy in children, including medication therapy, preoperative evaluation of children with epilepsy who are preparing to undergo surgical treatment, ketogenic diet therapy for epilepsy, and so on; for conditions such as severe tic disorders in children and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in children, in addition to medication therapy, the Department of Pediatrics has also carried out treatments such as neurobiofeedback and transcranial magnetic stimulation, bringing new hope for the rehabilitation of these children.

The Department of Pediatrics has a high-level medical staff team, consisting of experts, physicians, nurses, and technicians who have high professional standards, advanced professional education, rich clinical experience, a strong sense of responsibility, deep compassion, and a continual drive for improvement.

The pediatric ward currently has 20 beds. The ward has a beautiful, orderly, and clean environment, providing a good living environment for hospitalized children and their parents; the pediatric outpatient and emergency services are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and specialist outpatient clinics are available all day from Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday mornings to provide diagnosis and treatment services for children.
