Gynecology Department II
Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
The Department of Gynecology II at the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a specialty department integrating traditional Chinese medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, clinical practice, research, and teaching; it is a department for master's training in the gynecology specialties of traditional Chinese medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine at Xinjiang Medical University, and is also a base for implementing the quality management standards for drug clinical trials in traditional Chinese gynecology. The gynecology department currently has 56 authorized beds; its outpatient services include expert clinics, specialty-disease clinics, general clinics, and consultation clinics for difficult diseases. The specialty sees 88316 outpatient visits annually, and the annual number of patients admitted is 2625. The department currently has 9 professional and technical staff members, including 6 with senior professional titles (including 5 with associate-senior titles), 1 doctoral degree holder, 7 master's degree holders, and 4 master's supervisors. It is equipped with a fully automatic liquid uterine distension pump, a fully automatic pneumoperitoneum insufflator (including a laparoscope and surgical instruments), a fully digital B-mode ultrasound monitoring system for obstetric and gynecological surgery, an ultrasonic scalpel system, a gynecological infertility diagnosis and treatment device, a uterine tissue morcellator, an integrated hysteroscope-colposcope, a cervical conization knife (including a smoke evacuator), a microwave therapy device, and an endoscopic abortion aspiration system. In the traditional Chinese medicine treatment of gynecological diseases, cyclical regulation of ovarian function with Chinese herbal medicines has reached a leading level in Xinjiang and is nearly on par with the domestic level. Integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of gynecological tumors, endometriotic cysts, endometriosis, and pelvic venous congestion syndrome, as well as research on the prevention and treatment of early cervical cancer with traditional Chinese medicine, have all received unanimous recognition from peers in the field. At the same time, the department now performs hysteroscopic examinations; combined with traditional Chinese medicine treatment, this makes the therapeutic effects for gynecological endocrine diseases more definitive. Traditional Chinese medicine or integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease has significant advantages. Pelvic inflammatory disease is treated through oral Chinese herbal medicines, Chinese herbal medicine retention enemas, various physical therapies and iontophoresis, targeted drug administration by posterior fornix puncture, and other methods; modern scientific techniques, bacterial culture, and drug-susceptibility testing are also used to select effective antibiotics, with ideal results. On average, 10-15% of outpatients each year seek consultation and treatment for pelvic inflammatory disease. The department's treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease is distinctive, with definite efficacy and a certain leading level. In addition, the department has participated in national clinical research on gynecological infectious diseases and formulated guidelines for the standardized treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease. It can now routinely perform various gynecological surgeries, such as abdominal and laparoscopic surgery for ectopic pregnancy; abdominal and laparoscopic excision of benign ovarian tumors; abdominal and laparoscopic myomectomy; abdominal and laparoscopic subtotal and total hysterectomy; vaginal total hysterectomy; radical surgery for cervical cancer; radical surgery for endometrial cancer; radical surgery for ovarian cancer; and combined hysteroscopic and laparoscopic examination. The number of surgical patients and the quality of surgery have increased year by year.
