Surgery Department 2 (Urology and Andrology Center)
Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Department Overview The department has 75 open beds and has established multiple advanced specialized diagnosis and treatment systems, including an integrated specialized minimally invasive operating room, an integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment room, a research laboratory for urinary tract stones and tumors, and a urodynamic examination room. It has established a training base for precision intervention using multimodal image fusion. The department adheres to the concept of combining modern minimally invasive surgery with traditional Chinese medicine, while inheriting and innovating and complementing the strengths of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. It has developed distinctive advantages in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract tumors, stones, and prostate diseases through integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
Personnel Structure The department currently has 29 medical and nursing staff members: 3 chief physicians, 6 deputy chief physicians, 3 attending physicians, 2 resident physicians, and 8 staff members with doctoral, master's, or higher educational qualifications. After years of talent development and institution building, the department has formed a team composed of renowned experts, doctors, and master's degree holders, with highly qualified and highly skilled personnel as its professional backbone, a well-structured hierarchy, and clearly defined areas of focus. The mission of discipline development is “to establish a foundation in this city, expand into the prefectures, reach across Northwest China, and look toward the whole country.”
Diagnostic and Treatment Features Our department currently performs urological surgeries such as laparoscopic or robot-assisted nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, laparoscopic or robot-assisted radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, retroperitoneal tumor resection, laparoscopic adrenal tumor resection, radical nephrectomy for renal cancer, radical nephroureterectomy for renal pelvic cancer, and partial nephrectomy. Various laser enucleation procedures for the prostate and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) are routinely performed; the immediate postoperative urinary continence rate has reached the forefront nationwide. Our department extensively performs systematic prostate biopsy screening and actively carries out minimally invasive treatment and prevention of urinary system stones, including percutaneous nephrolithotomy with laser lithotripsy and stone extraction for complex upper urinary tract stones, particularly minimally invasive treatment of stones in children and infants.
Integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of urological and andrological diseases is a distinctive feature of our department. In addition to maintaining its traditional strengths in prostate diseases, urinary tract stones, male infertility and male sexual dysfunction, pelvic floor disorders, urinary continence, and other diseases, in recent years the department has successfully incorporated distinctive traditional Chinese medicine treatments into the diagnosis and treatment process throughout the perioperative period and established enhanced recovery after surgery, enabling patients to recover more quickly after surgery, reducing suffering, shortening hospital stays, and earning broad acclaim from society.
