Rehabilitation
Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
The Rehabilitation Center of the Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Xinjiang Medical University (Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) was established in 2005. Its rehabilitation services cover many areas, including neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, pelvic-floor, speech, and pediatric cerebral-palsy rehabilitation; it also provides procedures such as visceral relaxation and fascia-knife therapy. The department has introduced a variety of advanced rehabilitation treatment equipment from China and abroad, including an Archimedes-system suspension workstation, a non-surgical cervical/lumbar spinal decompression system, a low-temperature shock analgesia device, a traditional Chinese medicine fumigation device, a four-limb isokinetic-linked whole-body functional rehabilitation trainer, a somatosensory acoustic-wave therapy system, a shock-wave therapy device, transcranial electrical stimulation, a language-training system, a multifunctional neurological rehabilitation diagnosis and treatment system, and a portable upper-limb aerobic cardiopulmonary-function trainer. Every year, our department sends staff to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other locations for advanced training, learning new techniques such as rehabilitation for idiopathic scoliosis, swallowing laryngoscopy, fitting swallowing and speech valves, and cardiopulmonary physical rehabilitation for patients with tracheostomies and dysphagia. They apply what they learn to benefit patients who come to the hospital for rehabilitation. The department has published more than 20 papers, including 4 indexed by SCI and 4 in core journals. The director has led, hosted, and participated in 10 research projects, including 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, 5 Natural Science Foundation projects of the autonomous region, and 3 department- and municipal-level projects. Four patents have been applied for and are gradually being put into clinical treatment. Our rehabilitation program is at an advanced domestic level. As the rehabilitation center of the only Grade III Class A hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in northwestern China, it plays a demonstrative and leading role throughout Xinjiang. Through the national project supporting the improvement of traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation capacity, our hospital is vigorously carrying out distinctive traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation treatments such as herbal-medicine packs and acupoint applications. The department accepts therapists from hospitals throughout Xinjiang and students from colleges and universities for further training and internships. The director leads department therapists to southern Xinjiang and contacts rehabilitation departments at hospitals in the various prefectures and cities, carrying out active interaction and exchange in talent development, professional development, two-way referrals, and the establishment of a specialized traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation alliance, while strengthening academic exchange and resource sharing with primary hospitals.
