Surgery Department 3 Group 1 (Neurosurgery Department 1)
Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
The Department of Neurosurgery I of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established in 2004. After 17 years of dedicated and diligent work by its medical and nursing staff, it has now become a key specialty in the autonomous region integrating integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, medical care, teaching, scientific research, and talent development. It occupies Ward Area A and part of Area B, with 53 fixed beds. There are currently 10 physicians: 1 chief physician, 4 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, 1 resident physician, 4 physicians with doctoral degrees, 5 with master’s degrees, and 1 deputy chairperson of the Xinjiang Neurosurgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association; and 15 nursing staff: 1 with a master’s degree in nursing, 3 with bachelor’s degrees, and 1 deputy chairperson of the Xinjiang Surgical Branch of the Chinese Nursing Association. More than 1,500 patients are admitted annually, with more than 300 surgical cases and more than 200 cases of endovascular treatment for cerebrovascular diseases. The department has a well-established physician team. All physicians have completed Yasargil microsurgical training, skull base surgery training, cerebrovascular interventional training, ventriculoscopy training, and intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring training, and can perform various highly complex operations. The department is currently equipped with domestically advanced neurosurgical equipment: high-end operating microscopes, ventriculoscopes, pituitary endoscopes, intraoperative multifunctional neuroelectrophysiological monitoring systems, electroencephalographic monitoring equipment, intraoperative ultrasonography, invasive and noninvasive intracranial pressure monitoring devices, radiofrequency ablation devices, and other equipment. Its surgical technology and equipment platform are aligned with international standards. At present, our department’s treatment of common diseases and critically ill and difficult conditions of the nervous system ranks among the leading departments in the province, with a high level of surgical safety. It routinely performs standardized treatment for craniocerebral trauma, minimally invasive treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, surgery for various brain tumors and endovascular interventional treatment of cerebrovascular and spinal cord vascular diseases, cerebral vessel thrombectomy for acute stroke, and carotid and intracranial artery stenting. It actively carries out new technologies and projects available exclusively in Xinjiang, such as treatment for severe facial paralysis, facial synkinesis, and facial paralysis deformities. At the same time, microsurgical treatment of hemifacial spasm and trigeminal neuralgia is one of the treatments provided by the hospitals with the strongest safety safeguards in Xinjiang at present, and surgery and other treatments for intractable epilepsy have also achieved relatively good results. While continuously advancing, Group 1 of Neurosurgery III has also established long-term technical cooperation with renowned hospitals and physicians, including Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Shanghai Huashan Hospital, Xiangya Hospital in Hunan, Beijing Sanbo Brain Hospital, Shanghai Tongji Hospital, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University; joined the Neurological Disease Specialty Alliance of Beijing Tiantan Hospital and the Cerebrovascular Intervention Alliance of Shanghai Tongji Hospital; and receives regular visits from alliance experts for lectures, exchanges, and guidance. It has completed multiple highly complex surgeries for cerebral and spinal cord vascular diseases. Experts from Shanghai Huashan Hospital assigned by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to support Xinjiang provide long-term service, with the aim of creating a higher-level national diagnosis and treatment platform for patients. The Department of Neurosurgery of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine will take sophisticated technology as its foundation, high-quality service as its vehicle, and serve the people wholeheartedly.
