Surgery Department III, Group 2 (Neurosurgery Department II)
Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region
Group 2 of the Third Department of Surgery is one of the hospitals in the autonomous region to have begun neurosurgical and interventional procedures relatively early. It has made substantial progress and development in medical care, teaching, and scientific research, and has formed a highly capable professional team. It currently has 23 medical and nursing personnel, including 8 physicians and 15 nurses, with more than 70 open beds. Over the years, relying on high-standard professional techniques and extensive clinical experience, it has established long-term medical and technical cooperation with first-class neurosurgical teams and experts in China, providing patients of all ethnic groups throughout Xinjiang with various interventional medical and neurosurgical services.
The department was among the earliest in Xinjiang to successfully perform mechanical thrombectomy for acute cerebral infarction, drug-coated balloon angioplasty for vertebral artery stenosis, and covered stent implantation for carotid cavernous fistula. It now independently completes more than 200 cerebrovascular interventional procedures each year, including intravenous thrombolysis and emergency endovascular treatment for acute ischemic stroke (arterial thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy, and balloon angioplasty), interventional embolization of intracranial aneurysms, stent angioplasty of head and neck vessels, stent angioplasty of the cerebral venous system, recanalization of chronic intracranial arterial occlusion, spinal cord endovascular interventions, and endovascular treatment of intracranial arteriovenous malformations. It has been reported on multiple occasions by well-known domestic media and has reached an advanced level in China.
The department was among the earliest to introduce the Swedish Leksell stereotactic brain system. For conditions including hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, intraventricular hemorrhage, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, brain abscesses, brain tissue biopsy, chronic subdural hematoma, and intracranial radiotherapy for brain tumors, it performs minimally invasive surgery under local anesthesia, causing little trauma and greatly improving patient outcomes. The department performs craniotomy for cerebral hemorrhage, surgery for craniocerebral trauma, pituitary tumor resection, clipping of intracranial aneurysms, microvascular decompression for hemifacial spasm and trigeminal neuralgia, high-flow extracranial-intracranial bypass, and carotid endarterectomy, as well as surgical treatment of spinal cord and spinal canal lesions, including technically demanding procedures for spinal meningiomas, schwannomas, and tethered spinal cord, with good therapeutic results.
All medical and nursing personnel of Group 2 of the Third Department of Surgery will continue to work diligently. Guided by the service tenet of “first-class equipment, first-class service, and first-class technology,” and the spirit of “respecting and safeguarding life, saving the dying and healing the injured, willingly dedicating ourselves, and extending boundless love,” they will provide high-quality medical services to patients of all ethnic groups.
