Ultrasound Diagnostics

The Department of Ultrasound at Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was established in 1984. Through the joint efforts of several generations of ultrasound professionals, it has become a comprehensive ultrasound department centered on obstetrics and gynecology, integrating medical care, education, and research, with considerable scale and a full range of subspecialties. In 2002, the department became the Zhejiang Provincial Prenatal Ultrasound Diagnostic Consultation Center, one of the earliest provincial prenatal diagnosis centers established in China, undertaking ultrasound diagnostic consultations for difficult obstetric cases from Zhejiang Province and parts of neighboring provinces and cities. In May 2014, it became a standardized residency training base of Zhejiang Province, and in August of the same year, a national standardized residency training base, cultivating a large number of outstanding professionals for ultrasound positions throughout the province and country. In 2023, it was designated by the Ultrasound Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association as a Chinese Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound Training Base, and in 2024, it was approved as a Zhejiang Provincial Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project. The department currently has master's and doctoral degree authorization programs and a postdoctoral research station at Zhejiang University.
