Dental Emergency Department

The Emergency Department of West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, is a comprehensive clinical department whose main services include the treatment of acute toothache, dental trauma, oral and maxillofacial inflammation and trauma, and acute oral and maxillofacial bleeding. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day and receives patients as usual on public holidays; it is one of the largest and most professional oral emergency teams in China. The Oral Emergency Department has first-class hardware facilities, including root canal microscopes, a root canal obturation system, ultrasonic dental treatment units, defibrillators, electrocardiographs, and ventilators. The Oral Emergency Department has strong technical capabilities, with a complete oral emergency medical system and a rational echelon of research and teaching personnel. As a specialized department focusing mainly on oral emergencies, the Emergency Department has a high-level, highly qualified medical and nursing team. At present, the medical team consists of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, general dentists, endodontists, and oral mucosal disease specialists, with extensive professional experience; the nursing team also possesses rich skills in emergency rescue, intensive care, and oral specialty care. All medical and nursing staff in the department work together closely and uphold the principle of “Responsibility First, Safety Above All,” relieving patients’ suffering through excellent professional expertise and high-quality services.
