Digital Dental Diagnosis and Treatment Center
Tongji University Affiliated Stomatological Hospital Digital Dental Diagnosis and Treatment Center and Dental Esthetic Diagnosis and Treatment Department is one of the national key clinical specialty construction projects and one of the first specialized departments in China to focus on digital dentistry and esthetic dentistry. It is currently a standing committee member institution of the Prosthodontics Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association and a deputy director member institution of the Oral Materials Committee of the Shanghai Stomatological Association.
The department primarily uses computer-aided design and manufacturing to provide inlay and full-crown restorations for teeth with partial defects or teeth after root canal treatment; it provides minimally invasive restorations for unaesthetic anterior teeth caused by various factors, including bleaching, ceramic veneers, and invisible orthodontics; and it performs implant placement and superstructure restoration through navigation technology. The department is equipped with a complete range of high-end computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing equipment: CerecOmnicam true-color scanners, CerecMC X and CerecMC XL chairside milling units, 3Shape scanners, supporting KavoEverest Cam2, ArcticaEngin, and 3D printing equipment, among others. These devices enable restorations ranging from inlays to crowns and bridges to be completed on the same day during 1 visit, while ensuring the accuracy of implant surgery and the excellence of restorations, avoiding discomfort during impression taking and deformation during impression taking and fabrication; computer-aided design can better restore normal occlusion and the color of restorations, eliminating the need for repeated try-ins and adjustments, and reducing the number of visits.
As an emerging department, it has developed rapidly. Its digital restoration personnel have extensive clinical experience in digital restorations and specialize in the design and fabrication of CAD/CAM restorations. Based on the biological characteristics of edentulous areas, the department has progressively standardized the diagnosis and treatment procedures for digital restorations, improved the collection of relevant materials for preoperative and postoperative follow-up of esthetic restorations, and formed a strong collaborative team.
