Oral Radiology Department
The Department of Oral Radiology of the Stomatological Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University integrates imaging examination and diagnosis, scientific research, and teaching, and is a member institution of the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association. The department is a relatively large oral medical imaging center in northern Shanghai, equipped with advanced medical devices, including a large-field dental CBCT scanner, a fully digital oral X-ray imaging system, a full-view cephalometric X-ray machine, and digital (DR) dental radiography units, which were among the first to be used in the industry. The PACS digital imaging system enables the smooth transmission and storage of imaging data between the department and every clinical department, achieving paperless image interpretation throughout the hospital. The three-dimensional reconstruction function of dental CBCT facilitates better communication between physicians and patients.
The department currently performs intraoral radiography (dental films), extraoral radiography (plain films and lateral cephalometric films), panoramic radiography, dental CT, three-dimensional imaging of the jaws, and other special examinations. At the same time, it undertakes the teaching of professional theory and clinical internships for undergraduate students majoring in Stomatology at Tongji University and for standardized residency training, and has led and participated in multiple provincial- and ministerial-level scientific research projects and education reform projects.
