Ocular Refractive Treatment Center

Tongji Hospital Eye Refractive Treatment Center was established in August 1995 and is the first myopia surgery center in Hubei Province. As a pioneer in refractive surgery in Hubei Province, the Center was the first in Hubei Province to perform PRK, LASIK, LASEK, and CK surgery in 1995, 1996, 2001, and 2005, respectively, for the treatment of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia. Over the years, the Center has always placed patients’ interests and medical quality first, kept pace with the times, pursued progress with determination, and continuously introduced cutting-edge medical technologies and diagnostic and treatment equipment. Tongji Hospital is the first public hospital in Hubei Province to perform femtosecond laser surgery. In recent years, it has completed several hundred thousand cases of various types of myopia correction surgery, and the volumes of small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) surgery and intraocular lens implantation surgery have consistently ranked first among public hospitals in the province. Tongji Hospital Eye Refractive Treatment Center integrates medical care, teaching, and research; it has outstanding medical expertise and strong research capabilities. It has successively undertaken multiple clinical trials of intraocular lenses, participated in the research and development of domestically produced femtosecond laser machines, trained dozens of master’s and doctoral students and visiting physicians, and guided nearly 100 hospitals nationwide in carrying out myopia correction surgery. Its medical quality is a provincial leader and is at an advanced level nationally, and it has pioneered and led the field of refractive surgery in Central China.
