Ultrasound
The Department of Ultrasound currently has 35 physicians, including 10 with master's or doctoral degrees; 7 have senior professional titles, and 13 are attending physicians.
Featured services: 3D obstetric ultrasound, fetal cardiac ultrasound, 3D pelvic-floor ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, interventional diagnosis and treatment, musculoskeletal ultrasound, etc.
The department currently performs color Doppler ultrasound examinations and blood-flow analyses of the heart and great vessels, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, ureters, bladder, and prostate; uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries; seminal vesicles, scrotum, testes, epididymides, and spermatic cords; eyes, thyroid, parotid glands, submandibular glands, breasts, abdominal cavity, thoracic cavity, peripheral vessels and superficial soft tissues, fetuses, and others.
The department has high-end color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic systems: 12 at the Cuiyuan Campus, 2 at the Xianlin Campus, and 3 at the Zhijiang Campus, including GE's voluson E8 and LogicE9, and Philips' EPIQ7C and EPIQ5, among others.
The department's specialized medical technologies: In diagnosis, the Department of Ultrasound has introduced fetal echocardiography (FE), uterine artery ultrasonography, fetal nuchal translucency examination (NT), 3D transvaginal ultrasound examination (3D TVUS), fetal 3D ultrasound examination, contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination (CEUS), 3D pelvic-floor ultrasound, and musculoskeletal ultrasound; it has also carried out applications of elastography in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid and breast tumors, the application and research of elastography for evaluating liver fibrosis, application research on the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound to evaluate the efficacy of tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and ultrasound guidance and monitoring of minimally invasive breast surgery, among others. In treatment, the Department of Ultrasound has comprehensively implemented ultrasound-guided interventional diagnosis and treatment techniques, including radiofrequency, microwave, and NanoKnife ablation treatment for liver cancer and thyroid and breast nodules; puncture, catheter-replacement, and drainage procedures such as PTCD; puncture sclerotherapy for liver, kidney, and ovarian cysts; and puncture biopsies of the thyroid, breast, liver, kidney, and other organs throughout the body.
In terms of department development, the department takes “the development of ultrasound subspecialties” as its guiding direction, cultivating physicians to leverage their technical advantages and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in clinical subspecialties. Physicians with mid-level and senior experience all have clearly defined ultrasound subspecialty areas, including cardiovascular ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, fetal ultrasound, ultrasound of abdominal digestive-system tumors, prostate ultrasound, breast ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, pelvic-floor ultrasound, musculoskeletal ultrasound, interventional ultrasound, intraoperative ultrasound, and other subspecialty fields.
In scientific research and teaching, the Department of Ultrasound undertakes teaching in diagnostic ultrasonography at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Hangzhou Medical College, and other institutions of higher learning. It has undertaken more than 10 research projects at various levels, including projects of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Health Commission, including 3 projects of the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation and 5 projects of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Health. It has published nearly 50 papers in domestic and international professional journals, including more than 10 SCI papers, with the highest impact factor reaching 19.79, and has participated in compiling 2 monographs. All personnel in the Department of Ultrasound are members of the Chinese Medical Association; they serve as committee members of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Zhejiang Medical Association.
