Laboratory Medicine

As one of the first departments recognized for integrity in 2005, the Department of Laboratory Medicine of Tianjin Eye Hospital currently has 12 staff members, including 5 with associate senior professional titles, 3 with intermediate professional titles, and 4 with junior professional titles. Of these, 3 have master’s degrees and 9 have bachelor’s degrees, and the overall quality is high. Since 2005, the Department of Laboratory Medicine has focused on training laboratory diagnosticians for ocular surface diseases. By sending staff out for training and inviting experts in, it has improved its laboratory techniques and individual capabilities through various means, made great efforts in the laboratory diagnosis of ocular surface diseases, and provided relatively high-quality testing services to patients who come because of its reputation. From 2014 to 2016, the Department of Laboratory Medicine dispatched 2 key staff members as members of the eighth medical team to support Xinjiang. From 2019 to 2020, another staff member served as a member of the 21st medical team assisting Gabon in supporting Africa, contributing to the promotion of national unity. All colleagues in the Department of Laboratory Medicine are willing to provide patients with accurate, timely, and efficient laboratory services using modern equipment and highly qualified professionals. Department specialties The laboratory projects currently performed include clinical laboratory testing, biochemical testing, immunological testing, and microbiological testing, and 24-hour services are available to patients. Department projects Biochemistry projects: liver function, kidney function, blood glucose, blood lipids Clinical laboratory projects: routine blood and urine tests, four coagulation tests Immunology projects: five hepatitis B tests, hepatitis C antibody, HIV antibody preliminary screening, Treponema pallidum antibody Microbiology projects: bacterial culture, fungal culture, smear microscopy (bacteria, fungi, inflammatory cells, mites), etc. Department equipment With the support of hospital leadership, the department continuously updates its laboratory equipment. Existing laboratory equipment includes a fully automated hematology analyzer, fully automated urinalysis analyzer, fully automated coagulation analyzer, fully automated biochemical analyzer, fully automated enzyme immunoassay analyzer, and others. Service optimization The Department of Laboratory Medicine continuously standardizes laboratory diagnostic indicators, improves its internal quality control system, and continuously optimizes combinations of laboratory projects. The department is equipped with a LIS system that provides functions including automatic entry of patient information, result inquiry, and data statistics. Outpatient patients can print laboratory reports using self-service machines. The department participates in external quality assessment activities of the Ministry of Health and Tianjin Municipality, with qualified results, and is also a unit for mutual recognition of results in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong.
