Geriatric Medicine
Liaoning Provincial People’s Hospital established its Geriatrics Department in 2022 in response to population aging and the guidelines for establishing and managing geriatric departments. The multidisciplinary team uses patient-centered care, including treatment of acute illness and prevention and management of chronic disease, to improve older patients’ care and safety.
The department has outpatient and inpatient services and 16 medical and nursing staff: two chief physicians, two attending physicians, one resident and 11 licensed nurses. Its ward has 25 beds and electrocardiography, continuous ECG and oxygen saturation monitoring, glucose monitoring, central oxygen and suction equipment. It diagnoses and treats heart disease, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease, digestive and respiratory conditions in older adults, and reports experience with complex geriatric conditions, integrated Chinese and Western medicine, and emergency and critical care.

Cui Lijie: comprehensive geriatric functional assessment, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), palliative care and Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS). Xue Fangfei: nursing service needs assessment and the urinary incontinence assessment (ICI-Q-SF).
3. International exchange
Cui Lijie trained in cardiology at Fujita Health University Hospital, Japan, from January to April 2016.
