Emergency Medicine
The Emergency Medicine Department is an independent tertiary-level specialty responsible for the hospital’s emergency and resuscitation services and provides an emergency platform for other specialties. According to the hospital, it was the first emergency medicine department in China’s three northeastern provinces to operate according to JCI standards and is one of the few in the province certified at HIMSS EMRAM level 6. It has established a five-part emergency care framework. The chest pain center, stroke center, multidisciplinary emergency diagnosis and treatment center, national mobile medical and health emergency response center and air rescue base are described as advanced in the province; development of poisoning and trauma centers has begun. The department records over 80,000 emergency visits annually. It is a key clinical discipline under development in Liaoning Province and a national and provincial standardized residency training base.
The department serves as a vice-chair unit of the Liaoning Health Commission’s emergency medicine quality control center, a standing committee and incoming chair unit of the Liaoning Medical Association emergency medicine branch, and a member unit of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation group, the Chinese Geriatrics Society emergency branch, and the emergency branch of the Cross-Strait Medicine Exchange Association.
