Nephrology Department

I. Department Introduction

The Department of Nephrology of Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital was established in 1980. It currently has 4 chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, and 1 resident physician; among them are 1 doctoral graduate and 6 master's graduates. It also has a specialized nursing team. At present, the department is equipped with advanced devices such as hemodialysis machines, online hemodiafiltration machines, bedside hemofiltration machines, and colon dialysis machines. The Department of Nephrology has unique expertise in treating various diseases, including primary and secondary renal diseases, renal tubulointerstitial diseases, infectious kidney diseases, renal vascular diseases, chronic renal failure, and acute kidney injury. In particular, in the area of peritoneal dialysis, different forms of peritoneal dialysis technology have been used to treat several thousand patients with acute and chronic renal failure. The department's peritoneal dialysis catheterization technology is at the leading level in the province and has been recognized by the Ministry of Health as a “National Peritoneal Dialysis Demonstration Center.” The Department of Nephrology has comprehensive hemodialysis technology, featuring advanced equipment and the use of individualized dialysis.

II. Development of New Technologies

In 2018, Department Director Zhang Dongcheng introduced the automated peritoneal dialysis machine technology, end-to-side anastomosis for upper-limb arteriovenous fistulas, and the trocar-puncture technique for peritoneal dialysis catheter placement. Feng Weiping introduced guidance for home peritoneal dialysis and the application technology of automated peritoneal dialysis machines.
