Neurology
The Department of Neurology of the Affiliated Hospital was founded in 1958. It was the earliest neurology specialty established in our autonomous region and is the cradle of the region's neurology physicians. Through the efforts of several generations, the department has become a key autonomous-region department with coordinated development of medical care, teaching, and research. It currently has wards, outpatient services, and 6 clinical laboratories (an outpatient electroencephalography room, video ambulatory EEG room, electromyography and evoked-potential room, psychological examination room, vascular-lesion examination room, and sleep-monitoring room), with 150 approved beds. It mainly treats all types of nervous-system diseases, especially difficult, rare, and critical neurological diseases referred from throughout the autonomous region and several surrounding provinces and regions, and has opened multiple specialty disease clinics. In the 2020 China Hospital Influence Rankings by discipline, the department ranked 22nd nationally. It has 133 medical and nursing staff, including 44 physicians (19 professors/chief physicians, 6 associate professors/deputy chief physicians, 12 attending physicians, and 7 resident physicians), 4 medical technicians (1 chief technician and 3 technicians), and 85 nurses (2 chief nurses, 4 deputy chief nurses, 10 charge nurses, 55 nurse specialists, and 14 nurses). The department currently has 12 master's supervisors. It has enrolled and trained 151 master's students in neurology, of whom 121 have graduated; they are now active in neurology departments at major hospitals throughout the autonomous region and have become young and middle-aged leaders at their hospitals. Over the past decade or more, the department has applied for and obtained nearly 100 research projects funded by the National and autonomous-region Natural Science Foundations and by the autonomous-region departments of science and technology, education, and health and the medical university. It has published more than 500 high-level academic papers, including more than 10 indexed by SCI.
