The hospital attaches great importance to the department’s development and has provided matching funds of nearly 16 million yuan to support the construction and development of the discipline; while continually improving the facilities, it encourages department personnel to pursue degrees and undertake further study and training, bringing the department into line with the highest level of domestic otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. On the basis of maintaining its traditional strengths, the discipline actively develops new technologies and services. As a designated hospital in the autonomous region for cochlear implantation, it continuously explores the use of new types of artificial auditory ossicles and middle-ear implants while performing cochlear implantation surgery, with the aim of improving hearing restoration through middle-ear surgery. For head and neck malignancies, especially in patients with intermediate- and advanced-stage disease, induction chemotherapy and comprehensive treatment are actively provided, the quality of surgical reconstruction is improved, and the cure rate and quality of life of patients with head and neck malignancies are enhanced; transnasal skull-base, nasal–ocular-related, and lateral skull-base surgeries are actively performed.
