Clinical Nutrition

Based on the principle of “maintaining patients’ good nutritional status,” the Department of Clinical Nutrition was officially established in October 2021, with an annual outpatient volume of 3,000 visits. The Department of Clinical Nutrition is a comprehensive nutrition discipline integrating nutritional risk screening, nutritional assessment, nutritional diagnosis, nutritional treatment, therapeutic diet supervision, individualized preparation of enteral and parenteral nutrition, nutritional metabolism experiments, and nutrition education. It was awarded the honorary title of “Demonstration Unit” in the 2020 National Nutrition Week, the only one in Inner Mongolia. The Department of Clinical Nutrition has successively been approved as the “Medical Nutrition and Weight Management Teaching Base,” “Pilot Unit for Clinical Nutrition Department Development,” “Sentinel Hospital for Clinical Nutrition,” and “Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Science Popularization Education Base.”

The Department of Clinical Nutrition has established the Clinical Nutrition Outpatient Clinic, the Enteral Tube Placement Outpatient Clinic, and the Medical Nutrition and Weight Management Outpatient Clinic. It specializes in nutritional treatment for various chronic diseases, such as diabetes, gout, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, tumors, abnormal liver function, renal insufficiency, obesity, and coronary heart disease; the development of individualized nutrition plans for various special populations, such as pregnant women, children, and older adults; and the provision of high-quality medical services and a good healthcare environment for patients. The Department of Clinical Nutrition has launched the official account “Clinical Nutrition of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University,” providing calculation tools for nutrition-related indicators to facilitate users’ self-assessment. It has also specially established a message and interaction section to facilitate the timely collection of users’ suggestions and prompt responses.

At present, the Department of Clinical Nutrition has advanced equipment such as a metabolic cart and a body composition analyzer. It also has an experienced and highly skilled nutrition treatment team, including 2 nutrition physicians, 1 nutrition technician, and 2 nutrition nurses. All personnel have completed nutrition-related training and obtained qualifications to practice in the nutrition field.
