Haematology
The Department of Hematology was established in 1972 and was the earliest hematology specialty department established in the autonomous region. It has a first-rate medical team dedicated to learning and professional advancement, as well as advanced clinical diagnosis and treatment facilities and equipment. It frequently exchanges and collaborates with multiple hematology centers across China, has participated in more than 40 national clinical trials of new drugs, and keeps its medical care, education, and research closely aligned with the academic frontier. In 2002, it was designated a key discipline of the Inner Mongolia health system, and the Autonomous Region Hematology Quality Control Center is affiliated with our hospital.
There are 69 medical and nursing staff members (25 physicians, 40 nurses, and 4 laboratory technicians), including 5 chief physicians (professors), 3 associate chief physicians, 5 holders of doctoral degrees, 1 doctoral candidate, 17 holders of master's degrees, and 4 master's student supervisors. Staff members serve as national committee members of the Chinese Medical Association, Chinese Society for Immunology, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and other organizations; as chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the Inner Mongolia Medical Association and Inner Mongolia Medical Doctor Association; and as chairpersons of the Hematology Professional Committee of the Inner Mongolia Anti-Cancer Association and the Immunology Society, among other positions.
There are 105 open beds, including 4 Class 100 laminar-flow transplant rooms. The department is equipped with advanced blood cell separators, -80°C ultra-low-temperature freezers, clean benches, and other equipment. The Hematology Laboratory performs bone marrow cell morphology examinations, cytochemical staining, and other tests. The hospital laboratory platform provides immunophenotyping, molecular biology, and other testing services. These facilities ensure standardized diagnosis and monitoring of hematological diseases and provide support and assistance for treatment.
The annual outpatient volume exceeds 25000, and the annual number of hospitalized patients exceeds 2500. The department mainly treats patients with various types of anemia and bleeding disorders, as well as hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphoma, and myeloma. In addition to conventional treatment, various novel targeted drugs and immunotherapies are routinely used in our department. In 2020, the autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation program was restarted, and the department independently completed the entire process of autologous hematopoietic stem cell mobilization, collection, cryopreservation, and reinfusion. Drawing on the advantages of protocols used by multiple transplant centers in China, the mobilization and conditioning protocols currently used in our department offer the advantages of safety, high efficacy, and low cost. In May 2021, the first fully matched allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in the autonomous region was successfully performed. As of May 2023, 25 autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantations and 3 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantations had been completed.
