Operating Room
Responsible for supporting all types of surgical procedures in the field of cardiovascular disease and participating in the research and development of new surgical technologies and the introduction of new procedures, such as small-incision minimally invasive surgery, covered stent implantation for dissecting aneurysms, one-stop hybrid surgery integrating medical and surgical approaches, and the research and development of photoelectric uroflowmeters. The department was the first in the city to apply endoscopic harvesting techniques for the great saphenous vein and radial artery during coronary artery bypass grafting and to use various proximal and distal anastomosis devices; after coronary artery bypass grafting is completed and circulation has stabilized, a blood-flow meter is used to measure blood flow in the newly created vascular grafts.
The department participates throughout in research projects involving the cardiac-surgical implantation of ventricular assist devices in patients with mid- to late-stage heart failure.
