Internal Medicine Department I

The diagnostic and treatment technologies that the Department of Internal Medicine I can currently perform include: intravascular ultrasound examination of the coronary arteries (IVUS), fractional flow reserve (FFR), optical coherence tomography (OCT), coronary rotational atherectomy, and stent implantation for complex coronary lesions such as calcified lesions, chronic occlusive lesions, left main coronary artery lesions, and bifurcation lesions; chemical ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy; implantation of permanent cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds); radiofrequency ablation for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular contractions, and ventricular tachycardia; cryoablation for atrial fibrillation and left atrial appendage closure; medical-surgical hybrid procedures for complex arrhythmias; and interventional closure of congenital heart defects.

In 2005, it completed Tianjin’s first ICD and CRT-D implantations. It pioneered chemical ablation for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy in Tianjin. It also used pacing therapy for vasovagal syncope.

In 2013, it completed our hospital’s first pacemaker implantation at the interventricular septum.

In 2016, it completed Tianjin’s first CARTO UNIVU-guided radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation.

In 2018, it completed Binhai New Area’s first right ventricular mid-septal pacing procedure for the treatment of bradyarrhythmia.

In 2020, it completed Tianjin’s first leadless pacemaker implantation.

The Department of Internal Medicine I undertakes clinical teaching for undergraduate students of Tianjin University, as well as clinical teaching and research for graduate students of Tianjin Medical University. It has completed more than 10 research projects and successfully trained more than 10 master’s students. It has served as chief editor of 3 works and has published more than 150 articles in SCI-indexed and other domestic and international core journals. In 2014, the Department of Internal Medicine I was awarded the honorary titles of “Workers’ Pioneer” and “Gold Medal Team” by Tianjin and Binhai New Area. In 2021, the Tianjin Binhai New Area Federation of Trade Unions approved the establishment of the “Lin Wenhua Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio.” In 2023, the “Lin Wenhua Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio” received the “2-Star Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio” honor from the Binhai New Area Federation of Trade Unions.
