Internal Medicine Department III

Specializes in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of various cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease (angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction), chest pain of unknown cause, various tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias, hypertension, congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, myocarditis, cardiomyopathies (including dilated, hypertrophic, and restrictive cardiomyopathies), infective endocarditis, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, and peripheral vascular diseases.

Comprehensively performs various cardiovascular interventional procedures, including coronary angiography and emergency coronary intervention (stent implantation and balloon angioplasty). Specializes in interventional procedures for complex coronary lesions, including bifurcation lesions, chronic total occlusions, rotational atherectomy for calcified lesions, and intravascular lithotripsy balloon treatment; applies FFR (fractional flow reserve), IVUS (intravascular ultrasound), OCT (optical coherence tomography), ICE (intracardiac echocardiography), and other techniques for precise interventional treatment; performs radiofrequency ablation for tachyarrhythmias, including radiofrequency ablation for supraventricular tachycardia, premature atrial contractions, atrial tachycardia, premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and atrial flutter, as well as cryoballoon treatment for atrial fibrillation and left atrial appendage occlusion; performs temporary and permanent pacemaker implantation for arrhythmias, including single-chamber pacemakers, dual-chamber pacemakers, left bundle branch pacing, and biventricular pacemakers (cardiac resynchronization pacemakers) for the treatment of heart failure, as well as ICD defibrillator implantation; performs right heart catheterization, congenital heart disease closure procedures, and other procedures. The department's level and volume of interventional diagnosis and treatment have reached an advanced level nationally in China.

The department has achieved fruitful results in scientific research, teaching, and talent development. It has authored 2 monographs, translated and annotated 2 books, and published dozens of papers; trained many visiting physicians; undertaken undergraduate teaching at Tianjin University and postgraduate training at Chengde Medical University for many students; participated in dozens of domestic and international multicenter clinical studies; and undertaken multiple scientific research projects in Tianjin Municipality and Binhai New Area.
