Geriatric Medicine Centre

On June 10, 2022, the Geriatric Medicine Center of Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital was established, focusing on building a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment system and an emergency and critical care system, thereby effectively alleviating the difficulties older adults faced in accessing medical care and being hospitalized. The establishment of the Center also laid an important foundation for the hospital’s distinctive development integrating medical care and elderly care. On December 7, 2023, the Geriatric Medicine Center was officially designated as the Institute of Geriatrics of Nanjing University School of Medicine, marking the further deepening of the “hospital-school cooperation” between our hospital and Nanjing University School of Medicine and the formation of a new landscape in aging research characterized by interdisciplinary integration, resource integration, and a high degree of integration of industry, academia, and research. In the future, our hospital’s Geriatric Medicine Center will focus on clinical needs and research innovation to build a leading aging research platform in China, establish a Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment Center, a Smart Medical and Elderly Care Technology Service Center, a Proactive Health Technology Service Center, and a Palliative Care Technology Service Center, as well as a Medical, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Elderly Care and Hospice Training Base and a Medical and Elderly Care Industry R&D Base, further addressing the challenge of “multiple diseases in one body” among older adults.
