Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital is a key medical specialty in Nanjing and a vice-chair unit of the Emergency Medicine Specialty Committee of the Jiangsu Association of Non-Government Medical Institutions. It has four clinical centers: geriatric emergency medicine, trauma, chest pain and stroke. It provides emergency medical techniques meeting the national medical technology standards for grade-three class-A general hospitals. Its units include emergency internal medicine, emergency surgery, an animal-injury clinic, an emergency resuscitation room, an emergency debridement operating room, an emergency observation ward and an EICU. It has established a closely connected emergency care chain and fast-track pathway linking prehospital emergency care, emergency resuscitation, emergency surgery or intensive care, and the emergency ward. The department has five physicians with senior professional titles and 12 with intermediate titles, and sees more than 100,000 emergency visits a year on average.
