The Department of Infectious Diseases at Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital Affiliated with Nanjing University Medical School currently includes a Fever Clinic and an Intestinal Diseases Clinic. It mainly provides screening, treatment, and referral for respiratory and intestinal infectious diseases. At the same time, the department undertakes infectious-disease consultations throughout the hospital, guides all clinical departments in the use of antibiotics, and, in particular, provides specialist guidance on the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and severe infections, infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms, and fever of unknown origin, ensuring that every hospitalized patient with an infection receives professional clinical care. In addition, the department is responsible for hospital-wide review and reporting of infectious diseases, data analysis, and the handling of public health events, and carries out and completes the various infectious-disease prevention and control tasks assigned by the disease-control authorities. At a later stage, a Hepatitis Clinic will be added depending on the number of patients, providing antiviral treatment and medical examination services for viral hepatitis.
