The Department of Dermatology at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was established in 1994 and is a comprehensive department integrating clinical care, medical research, teaching in the three clinical disciplines, and a provincial standardized training base. It operates outpatient clinics at the Qingchun Campus, Qiantang Campus, Grand Canal Campus, and Shaoxing Campus, and inpatient wards at the Qingchun Campus. Its current annual outpatient volume exceeds 250,000 visits. Our department currently has 5 chief physicians/professors, 6 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, 9 resident physicians, and 2 supervising technicians. Of these, 15 hold doctoral degrees and 8 hold master's degrees. The department has established close and good cooperative relationships with the dermatology departments of several overseas university hospitals, such as Mayo Hospital in the United States, Loma Linda Hospital in the United States, United Hospital of Wisconsin Dermatology in the United States, and University Hospital Kiel in Germany. It has sent several physicians to Germany, Australia, and the United States for advanced study, doctoral study, and postdoctoral work. The department operates a specialized outpatient clinic for laser aesthetics, has more than 20 years of experience in laser aesthetic treatment, is equipped with advanced laser equipment, and has established specialty outpatient clinics for allergic diseases, acne, psoriasis, biologics, alopecia, skin tumors, bullous skin diseases, and photodynamic therapy. It undertakes dozens of clinical trials of new drugs.

Technical Advantages

Our department has established multiple disease-specific outpatient clinics. In addition to diagnosing and treating common skin diseases, it also provides diagnosis and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, infectious skin diseases, inflammatory skin diseases, autoimmune diseases, vascular skin diseases, pigmentary skin diseases, bullous skin diseases, neoplastic skin diseases, and difficult-to-diagnose rare diseases. In 2002, it established the Laser Aesthetics Center, offering intense pulsed light, skin-booster injections, microneedle radiofrequency treatment for acne and scars, and microneedle radiofrequency and Qingxin microwave treatment for axillary osmidrosis. At the same time, the department independently performs dermatopathological diagnosis.
